At Perth Psychological Services we receive referrals from GP’s, Paediatricians, Psychiatrists, other allied health professionals, government agencies and other community organisations.
In addition, individuals are always welcome to call us to arrange an appointment. We will offer advice about your eligibility to receive financial support including a Medicare rebate.
You do not need a referral to book an appointment with one of our Perth Psychological Services Clinicians. If you have Private Health Insurance, you may be entitled to a rebate through your provider. We recommend you check with your provider prior to your appointment.
If you choose not to use Medicare or a private health fund you can see a Clinician without a referral.
Prior to your appointment with Perth Psychological Services, we recommend seeing your GP to be assessed for a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP). If a MHCP is provided this entitles you to a Medicare rebate to use for 6 sessions to assist you with payment.
After the initial 6 sessions, you are required to return to your GP for a review, and they may recommend a further 4 sessions. Please note that you are only eligible for 10 sessions per calendar year.
In order for us to process your rebate, we require a copy of your MHCP and referral from your GP. You can ask your GP to send the referral and MHCP directly to us, you can email us directly or bring it in with you the day of your appointment.
You or your child may be referred to us by a Paediatrician or Psychiatrist. Please discuss your eligibility for a MHCP with your health professional.
If your child is being referred for an Autism Spectrum Disorder Diagnostic Assessment, you may be able to claim up to 4 Medicare rebate sessions under the Helping Children with Autism Plan. This is only available from Paediatricians and Psychiatrists.
Thank you for considering Perth Psychological Services for your patient. We have a number of Clinicians with specialised skills, and all are registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
Referrals are carefully reviewed by our Senior Management Team, and allocated to the Clinician considered the best fit for your patient. You may also like to refer directly to a specific clinician. We will suggest an alternative clinician if the wait for your nominated clinician is too long.
Referrers can also take advantage of our consultation service with our management team, Sharon Taylor, Business Manager and Suzanne Midford, Executive Director who will be happy to discuss your concerns and make specific suggestions.
